10 Disappointing Movies

I hate when a movie I anticipated for months/years finally comes out and leaves me disappointed - especially if the trailer made it look awesome and it was well hyped up by the media. Disappointing doesn't necessarily mean the movie is bad but I was left thoroughly underwhelmed, even after multiple viewings. At the same time, some of these anticipated letdowns do turn out to be more horrible than expected. Here are ten movies that were huge disappointments for me - check it out.

1. Man of Steel (2013)

The last three Superman films were absolute disappointments so the world looked to a Superman reboot that will redeem the franchise. Unfortunately what we got is lame characters, poor plotting and bad CGI. One can only pray for the upcoming Justice League film.

2. Alexander (2004)

I'm a huge fan of historical epics so when I heard that Hollywood was gonna bring to life the story of one of our greatest conquerors - I was pumped! The movie Alexander however was quite forgettable and more a soap opera with lame performances than it was an epic.

3. Terminator 3 - Rise Of The Machines (2003)

One would think with all the advances in technology today, another great Terminator sequel would spawn. Boy was I disappointed. Though there were a few good action sequences, I wasn't too fond of the cast.

4. Pirates Of The Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007)

Contrary to popular belief, I actually enjoyed Dead Man's Chest and thought it was pretty fun sequel, along with its new characters. I can't say the same about this third installment. A muddled plot made it not so interesting and quite a disappointment.

5. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Christopher Nolan turned the Batman franchise around and with a more serious tone. After a very epic The Dark Knight, I looked to The Dark Knight Rises for a thrilling conclusion. Unfortunately all I got was a overlong average flick with little to no thrills.

6. Fantastic Four (2004)

Being a fan of the cartoon series growing up, I was thoroughly disappointed with this lackluster effort of a superhero movie. The cast did nothing for it.

7. The Hangover Part II (2011)

I loved the premise of the original movie and I was excited for a sequel. What I didn't know is that they would copy the exact same thing from the first movie, only this time with less jokes. This movie was just not funny.

8. Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen (2009)

Yes I did kinda enjoy the first film so I was looking forward to this sequel. I was surprised at how really boring and annoying the characters were. Not even the action could save it.

9. Jurassic Park III (2001)

A big fan of the first and second films but this installment lacked thrills or energy - a very stale sequel.

10. Kill Bill: Vol 2 (2004)

The first film was pretty exciting and bloody but this sequel lacked the thrills of the first film, The story and characters became so drawn out and uninteresting.

What are some of your most disappointing films?

  1. What a list! Not all of them rubbish but as you said, disappointing. Well...I liked Superman so it wouldn't be on my list. :)

  2. This list is amazing. I agree with everything except Kill Bill Volume 2 (although it's not as good as volume 1). I was so very disappointed in The Dark Knight Rises and Hangover 2.
